What Can You do?

Submitted by Alicia Beach, FG WKU, Guest Blogger

“Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have,
might have, and should have.”

This quote runs through my mind every time I see a new opportunity. My opportunity this time was college. I was entering into a new world with
thousands of new faces, hundred of new buildings, and literally no close friends. The next four years were going to depend on the decisions I made in the next few days. I knew I wanted to join a couple clubs, but which ones? This is when I discovered FeelGood.  Throughout high school I volunteered numerous hours and I planned multiple service projects and events. Never had I ever heard of an organization as thrilling as FeelGood. I was immediately interested.  Making grilled cheese while ending world hunger, how is that not fun??

MDG…

Do you know what MDG stands for?  No, not Miller Genuine Draft… that’s MGD.  MDG stands for Millennium Development Goals.  Still don’t know what I’m talking about?  Then you probably are new to FeelGood…

Every FeelGooder should know what the Millennium Development Goals are.  In fact, you should know them so well that you could more or less rattle off all 8 goals from memory.  Why you might ask?  Because knowledge is power!

UIUC's First Sale of the Year!

Tuesday, Sept. 14, marked FeelGood UIUC's very first day of grillin' cheese for the year. And let me tell you, it turned out to be way better than expected! In the first hour, we managed to make more than 15 sandwiches and had $32 donated to the cause. Now that may not be that much compared to other chapters, but for us, it's A LOT. See, we're a small chapter at a big state school that boasts more than 800 student organizations, so you could say we have some  competition on our hands. It's not easy getting people's attention when the club next to you on the quad is selling ice cream sundaes and the one across from you is having an epic freestyle rap battle with a cute dog as their mascot to boot. The Harry Potter Club is usually playing pseudo-quidditch not too far away either.

shop Shop SHOP!

Alright, I’m not your average consumer.  My shoes have holes everywhere you look, my clothing is from the thrift shop, and my underwear?  Well let’s just leave it at, ‘I wear a clean pair every day!’  Point being, I don’t shop.  The last 20 times I’ve been to a mall was to shop for gifts for other people.  I was also 10 when those last 20 outings first occurred.  Am I poor?  Not at all, my life is full of richness and financially, The Flawger is going to be just fine J

But I do have to make a confession.  I have spent money on clothing… for myself!  I just found myself really REALLY wanting something I saw and felt like I had to have it.  This must be that feeling that the rest of consumer America gets on a daily basis.  I’ve been consumed with consumership!

What is it that I saw that I just had to have?  FeelGood aparrel!  It’s SOOOOOO cool looking!  And all the proceeds go to the cause we all love so much!  WIN WIN!
