Ending Hunger, An Expanded Dialogue
Ending Hunger, An Expanded Dialogue
Hunger is not an issue of food. Hunger is an issue of dignity, opportunity and selfhood. At a superficial level of our personal identities, we can readily see that our lives are interdependent: our personal well-being depends on the actions of all other people and our natural environment. At a deeper level, however, we are each other. When selfhood is denied to millions of people, our selfhood is diminished. And when millions of our sisters and brothers regain their dignity, the essence of our humanity is restored.
Through peak experiences, experiential and peer-to-peer learning, FeelGood engages students in a deeper understanding of a new, emerging worldview—one rooted in our interdependence. Applying this worldview to the root causes of hunger and the personal and cultural barriers that inhibit our human potential, FeelGlood students adopt a new perspective necessary to effect systemic and lasting change. Through authentic interactions at the delis, outreach to their communities and educational events, FeelGood students are deepening the dialogue around hunger, our human condition and how, together, we can respond.
