FeelGood Start-Up Manual

How to end world hunger, one grilled cheese at a time!

Some Helpful Operating Tips - how to make a grilled cheese

We want FeelGood to have a reputation for quality, fast and great customer service, delicious food, and a fun experience. The first step to reaching this goal is making a good grilled cheese, efficiently and effectively. On average, you will need two members; a prep person and a griller, working each shift at your kiosk.

STEPS:

1. Prep-person takes the order:

"What type of bread would you like?" Open up 2 slices of selected bread onto a piece of tin foil.
"Would you like a toppings?" Put requested toppings on piece of bread on the right.
"What type of cheese would you like?" Place cheese over toppings (holds the toppings down)
"Would you like any sauce?" Squeeze sauce onto empty piece of bread on the left.
"Thank you, your sandwich will be ready shortly!" Hand the sandwich over to the griller

2. Griller takes the sandwich and begins grilling it. Make sure to hold the grill cover down as the pressure speeds the cooking process. Sandwich is done when Cheese is melted.

  1. While the sandwich is grilling, ask them if they want some chips or something to drink.
  2. This is also a good time to engage them in The Hunger Project and what FeelGood does. Think like a sales person, sell our cause because this is when they will put $ in the donation box.

3. Griller – when sandwich is done, wrap it in foil, hand with a napkin, and any info card you might have.

Speed Tip:

To keep the process moving the Prep person should constantly be taking orders and the Griller should always have a sandwich on the grill. It is okay to have prepped sandwiches waiting for the grill.

Teaching your FeelGood Team:

At one of your first meetings, have fun practicing making grilled cheese. Brain storm about recipes (be sure to keep ingredients realistic or come up with a place to get the desired ingredients). Remember, have fun with this stuff. It is fun. Make up songs, chants, cheers, anything to boost the morale and to inspire.
