2009 Hunger and Leadership Summit
FeelGood’s 4th Annual Leadership & Hunger Summit will be an intense weekend of hunger education and leadership development for FeelGood’s finest student leaders. 100 FeelGood students from across the country will gather in New York City from October 23-25 to strengthen the FeelGood community, build their leadership capacity, set goals, share best practices and innovate for the sustainable end of hunger. The students will be joining activists from around the world on Saturday for special presentation on The Hunger Project’s empowerment strategies in Africa, South Asia, South America and Mexico and will walk away with a deep understanding of empowerment, gender-focused development strategies. Additionally, the students will take this unique opportunity to network with distinguished professionals from a myriad of fields.
Leadership Development:
Friday Evening, Saturday morning and all day Sunday, FeelGood students will hear from social entrepreneurs and leaders in the non-profit field (Robert Egger from DC Central Kitchen joined us in 2008). They will also participate in 6 workshops concentrated on personal growth, leadership, goal setting, education and overcoming the unique obstacles each student faces. The Leadership Development portion of the weekend is intended to equip the students with tools and resources to be leaders for change on their respective campuses.
The Hunger Project Program & Gala:
As a special celebration of the students’ hard work and leadership throughout the school year, FeelGood will be inviting all Hunger Summit attendees to the The Hunger Project’s Annual Gala. FeelGood students, along with 500 diplomats, dignitaries and Hunger Project supporters from 24 countries around the world will come together to celebrate the impact of The Hunger Project’s strategies for the end of hunger and abject poverty.
